Designer Jeon Do-ha graduated from the Department of Design, Hongik University, College of Art, and designs kitchen and tableware using colored stainless steel.

If you look at the designer's representative products, the sharp line is impressive. I'm curious as to why this product was created.

I think the most important element in design is the line. Although the details are important, the line is what creates the overall atmosphere, and I thought that the modern and chic feeling comes from a clean and sharp line.

I'm curious about how you envision and make a product.

Although I design mainly kitchen & tableware, I tend to design things that I think are necessary in real life. If necessary, the process of imagining a design from it is naturally connected.

MAKER | PARK DONGGEUN (박동근)

The metal is cut and the shape is made by connecting the sides with a welding technique. This is only the beginning of the whole work. It has to go through a long grinding operation to cut and polish the metal.
The finished metal product has a subtle color reminiscent of crystal. Craftsman Park Dong-geun has been making various metal products for 20 years. We talked about his passion and work with him, who has only walked one path.

I wonder what made you interested in metal work.

Working with metal is very arduous, time consuming and requires patience and perseverance. However, I was obsessed with the strong beauty of the finished product when the whole process was over, and I learned metal.

So, when did you start working with metal in earnest?

20 years ago. From the moment I first learned it, I thought this was the way to go. Which has been going on till now.

This stainless steel work is made using abrasive techniques. Please describe the manufacturing process of your product.

At first, after cutting the product, trim the cut surface to catch the curve. Then, use a coarse flap disc to clean the surface, then use abrasives and a buffing wheel to create a clean, smooth surface. After that, a luxurious vibration pattern is applied, and the product is completed through a special coating process.
